PMC (Precious Metal Clay) is the world's first invented fine silver clay.
Production of PMC has ended in 2021, much to the regret of people around the world.
The name "Morin" was chosen as a tribute to the inventor, Dr. Masaki Morikawa, and is derived from part of his name.
History of silver clay
In the late 1980s, paste containing ultrafine gold particles was used in the electronics industry. Mitsubishi Metal (Currently known: Mitsubishi Materials Corporation) had been manufacturing gold paste using ultrafine gold particles.
The first precious metal clay sculpture was actually a "sake cup" baked with fine gold clay made from ultrafine particles of fine gold, the material used in the gold paste. The inventor, Dr. Morikawa, explains that he invented this material with a sense of pottery.
This utilizes the property that fine metal powder undergoes diffusion bonding under high heat, bonding the particles together, and following fine gold, fine platinum and fine silver clay were developed and released onto the market in 1990.

Silver clay inventor: Dr. Morikawa
Dr. Masaki Morikawa, the first person in Japan to invent precious metal clay, earned his doctorate at Osaka University and then joined Mitsubishi Metals, where he worked exclusively on electronics using precious metals such as gold and silver.
There are three types of gold alloys: golden, red, and white. He invented three-tone gold by combining and bonding these alloys, fine gold cards that take advantage of the ductility of gold and silver, and hardened fine gold. He also invented a variety of precious metal materials, including precious metal clay, which he invented based on his idea of pottery, and contributed greatly to the development of the precious metals field.

The story behind
the development of "Silver Pot"
Nitto, as the exclusive distributor of PMC fine silver clay in Japan, worked to develop the market for fine silver clay, and at the same time, we developed Silver Pot, an unglazed firing pot that can be easily fired using solid fuel, making use of our experience in pottery, and contributed to the development of fine silver clay for beginners. Silver Pot is designed to ensure the firing temperature of silver clay. We have a cumulative sales record of 160,000 sets of Silver Pot for beginners.

The history of Morin
Nitto has been an agent for PMC fine silver clay for many years. During that time, one thing that was deeply engraved in our hearts was our respect for Dr. Masaki Morikawa, the inventor of PMC.
Humans have been involved with precious metals for more than 7,000 years, and silver in particular has been widely used as a precious metal to decorate our lives. Dr. Morikawa came up with the revolutionary idea of turning precious metals into clay and shaping them in a ceramic style. We wanted to inherit this legacy in our new fine silver clay.

Introducing Morin, a silver clay reborn by Nitto.
